Luminox Technology
The Luminox Light Technology (LLT) system provides unmatched, self-powered illumination with a constant glow 24/7, no matter the conditions, for up to 25 years. Featured in every Luminox watch, LLT ensures that the time is always visible without the need for charging or activation. Unlike luminescent paint, which requires an external light source and fades quickly, or battery-powered systems that require activation, Luminox watches are always visible, day or night.
“Always Visible” means that the Luminox Light Technology (LLT) system uses tiny micro gas light tubes (borosilicate glass capsules) to illuminate the watch and is guaranteed to remain illuminated for 10 years. The tubes are located on the hands, hour markers, and, when necessary, the bezels. Safe for humans and the environment, they are individually installed by hand in Switzerland in every Luminox watch.

Why does light intensity of LLTs differ?
The perceived brightness of LLT varies depending on several factors. Luminox uses red, orange, yellow, green, and blue LLT colors, with green and orange being the most easily perceived by the human eye.
In water, colors lose intensity at different depths. For example, red is no longer visible at around 5 meters, while blue can remain visible at depths of up to 60 meters. Perceived brightness also varies with individual eyesight, age, and surroundings. Outdoors, UV radiation can further enhance the perceived intensity of LLT.
Finally, LLT gradually loses intensity over time. Luminox guarantees its luminosity for 10 years, while the tubes can continue to glow for up to 25 years.
What is the difference between Super-LumiNova® and LLT?
LLTs are self powered and do not need an external light source to “charge” in order to glow. Whereas Super-LumiNova® provides luminosity for up to 8 hours before requiring an external light source, Luminox Light Technology (LLT) offers self-powered illumination for up to 25 years. Luminox Light Technology further separates itself from other watches utilizing electro luminescence by bypassing the need for a button which consumes battery power.
