"We are not heroes, we are ordinary people doing extraordinary work." Luminox ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 Series

All the ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 series use a 46mm Carbonox™ case. Exclusive to Luminox, Carbonox™ is an extremely tough and durable carbon-based material that is 6 times lighter than steel and 3 times lighter than titanium. It is also hypoallergenic, extremely durable and shock resistant. These timepieces feature scratch-resistant sapphire crystals, are powered by a Swiss Made quartz movement and are water resistant to 200 meters. All watches are equipped with the Luminox Lighting Technology (LLT), which guarantees ultimate night vision to ICE-SAR teams for 24 hours a day, up to 25 years through their use of tritium gas tubes.

The logo of ICE-SAR, with its four circle-section elements has inspired the shape of the bezel for the collection while the hands are shaped to resemble the carabiners that the rescuers use on every mission. The hard-sandblasted dial calls to mind the lava fields that cover 30% of Iceland. On the blue and black/red models, the number 12 is replaced with ‘112’, the emergency number in many countries of Europe and USA. The ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 Series is made up of a four dial versions - a black dial, a black dial with red accents, a blue dial and a white dial. The straps used are genuine rubber with textile top insert and include a Carbonox™ signature buckle.

The limited edition timepiece is limited to 900 pieces worldwide. It uses the blue and red color scheme of ICE-SAR and all the watches are individually numbered on the caseback that also feature the ICE-SAR logo. At the nine o’clock, the index has been replaced with ‘90 years’ and the ICE-SAR logo is placed at six o’clock while ‘112’ replaces the number twelve.

The professional teams of the ICE-SAR are trained to go anywhere on Iceland and rescuers routinely answer calls during avalanches, shipwrecks, storms, eruptions, earthquakes, sub-zero winters and much more. These teams need a watch they can depend upon, that will endure the hardships they have to, and keep on doing its job. They need a watch they can see in the dead of a long winter’s night, and one that will not quit after the first shock or submersion in water. Luminox is proud to be working with the ICE-SAR, a historic Search and Rescue operation, and to be equipping them with ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 series watches.
