The third station of the Luminox Code Red Survival Course simulated a rubble situation. We were taught extrication skills to rescue victims from a dangerous situation. This meant that participants had to deal hands-on with heavy duty equipment such as chainsaws, metal cutter and rock drill. The second station of the Luminox Code Red Survival Course simulated a rescue mission which involved abseiling down a building and lifting a victim on the rescue stretcher to a helicopter. This simulation allowed me to learn the basic techniques of abseiling down the rope and have the essential knowledge on how to operate such equipment.. Such scenarios would happen in countries with poor building materials or in an earthquake situation where buildings would collapse.
